2006 Bevel Concept

Conceived by the La Jolla Desisn Studio, the Bevel Concept is designed to be a multi-purpose vehicle. Part panel vaan and part CUV, Bevels asymmetrical styling is pointed toward more utilitarian use for those who do not require a pickup truck. The Bevel rides on a 115.4-inch wheelbase, longer than the current Nissan Murano (111.2 inches) but shorter than the Nissan Quest (124.0 inches) with an Overall length of 173.2 inches and width measures a full 75.0 inches. Overall height is only 63.8 inches yet has a low load floor which makes the total interior cargo height the same as Murano. Additionally it has glass roof solar panels, multi-purpose drive-by-wire to control steering/braking/throttle, 20" wheels, LCD headlights/fog lights/tail lights and Fibre Optic cameras among others.

The next generatrion G35 Coupe concept was shown at the 2006 North America International Auto Show. The concept car retains the basic shape of the current rear-wheel-drive G35 coupe, but its projector headlamps are more eye-catching and the concept car sits lower to the ground. The concept’s body is more rounded in shape than the current car, and there are more prominent wheel bulges for the 20-inch, low-profile tires.

The Terranaut was conceived to serve as a mobile working environment for scientists, geologists, archaeologists or other adventurers who travel to the most challenging environments on the planet either for their work - or pleasure. Its cabin is designed to accommodate three people – a driver, a passenger and, in the rear, where a scientist or specialist is well served with a computer console, as well as communication and analysis equipment to support them in their work. The vehicle is designed to support a laboratory and allow easy access by utilizing a design without a "B-pilar". The Terranaut has Nineteen-inch wheels are covered by tires specially constructed for Terranaut by Goodyear. Puncture proof, they function as conventional road tyres when the vehicle is being driven on metalled roads but, by changing air pressure, transform themselves into chunky off-road tires.

The EX is a coupe inspired crossove concept that was first shown at the 2007 New York Auto Show. Two new system were revealed with the EX. The AVM system utilizes front, side and rear-mounted cameras to help reduce the blind spots when parking, while the LDP system takes Infiniti`s currently available Lane Departure Warning System into a new dimension of safety by actively using the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system to help assist the driver in maintaining lane position if the vehicle inadvertently starts to drift out of the lane. The leather interior is nearly production-ready and includes deep, supportive seats and an ambient lighting system that includes special indirect headrest illumination. The Intima Concept, released at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show, is built as a next generation sedan with high levels of functionality and advanced technology. Powered by a clean-diesel V6, the Intima is loaded with many of Nissan's Safety Shield systems including the Around View Monitor and Distance Control Assist Systems. The interior features ambiant lighting from the guages, console and door grips which give off a blur-green soft light. With light tan leather and dark grain woor the interior shows refined elegance. Entry to the Intima is helped via a chassis without a B-pillar which is accomplished by utilizing rear-hinged suicide-style doors. The sleek exterior lines, featuring a low hoodline and high trunk are accented with small sideview-cameras and LED lighting.

Targeted to younger drivers, the Mixim concept packs all of the goodies most Internet savvy youth may want. Powered by an electric motor/generator situated on each drive axel, the all-wheel-drive compact car sports diamond-shaped styling cues and a centrally- positioned driver's cockpit with two seats sitting on the sides slightly behind the driver. A removable fourth seat can be positioned in the trunk area if required. The instrument panel and steering wheel receive buttons and controls familiar to computer gamers, but on the exterior the most noticeable feature is the scissor doors. Sitting on a 2530mm wheelbase, Mixim is 3700mm long, 1800mm wide and 1400mm high, the Mixim is shorter and lower than Micra, though slightly wider. It weighs just 950kg.

The NV200 takes the small van to the next level in personalization. The NV200 concept is designed as a mobile office and van in one package. Designed for a biologist the NV200 includes a computer terminal for downloading images and mobile communications, and storage of all gear needed in the field. With an edgy cab-forward design, resulting in a high waistline, it sits on a usefully long 2820mm wheelbase and is 1840mm tall, providing a practical, roomy load space. The rear is "pod based" in that hydraulics are used to extend the pod for access to necessary equipment and to deploy solar panes for electricity. The concept is powered by an environmentally clean diesel engine. Released at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show, the NV200 shows the flexibility of vans in which they can meet customer needs and requirements.

Nissans continuation of the 2005 Pivo Concept. The general aspects of this concept is an urban commuter with a pivoting cab which allows for easier parking. Further, the Pivo includes an interactive robot which listens to the driver.

The Nissan Round Box represents a new take on open-air motoring through its uniquely shared experience of fresh air stimulation, a sensation of speed and easy-to-use high-spec features. The Round Box features an environmentally friendly turbocharged direct injection gasoline engine mated to Nissan's advanced Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). It is also equipped with a number of safety systems based on Nissan's Safety Shield* concept, including Around View Monitor and Distance Control Assist System (DCAS). The interior of the R.D/B.X features front bucket seating with a rear bench that is designed to enhance passenger communication with the addition of an interactive "play catch" system which allows passengers to share entertainment and driving information between passengers. The exterior design features corner-placed tires to enhance usable interior space, a three-section romavable roop panel, and lower-glass "road surface windows" to provide passengers with a view of rapidly passing road surfaces. The Round Box was released at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show.


2008 Nissan Denki Cube Concept

The Denki (Japanese for "electric") concept was created to show Nissan's small car strategy and their global environmental efforts. The exterior of the Denki is electrically themed and includes radical "lighting" headlight and turn/brake lamp designs. It is covered by a special white pearl paing and graphics. To make the Denki, Nissan stretched the Cube by 9.4" in order to accommodate its Lithium-ion battry cells. The interior has 3-row seating revised instrumentation including an IP-mounted shift button. Finally, the Denki Concept is powered by a 1.3-litre gasoline engine with an electric motor and laminated lithium-ion batteries. The Denki was revealed at the 2008 New York Auto Show.

The Micra C+C show car was created by Nissans European design headquarters in London, to showcase the latest colour and paint technology and to highlight the changes that have been made to the entire Micra range. Micra Colour + Concept has been given a two-tone treatment with a Liquid Metal gold paint effect running over the top of the car and contrasting with the three coat pearlescent white finish on the car's flanks. The gold finish has an intense depth that makes it appear liquid to the touch. Inside, the theme continues with a high contrast between the upper and lower portions of the interior. Re-upholstered in white leather, the seats have accented detailing and stitching. Carpets and lower internal panels are a darker acid yellow to contrast with the pale upper portion of the dashboard. The concept was revealed at the 2008 Frankfort Auto Show.

Nuvu is an electric vehicle, is agile, easy to drive and even easier to park. It represents Nissan's commitment to electric vehicle technology, considering that Nissan has already announced that it will present a production-ready EV at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show

Entering the commercial vehicle marketplace, Nissan released the LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) Concept in December 2008. Built upon the frame of a Nissan Titan pickup, the LCV is designed with the construction worker in mind and highlights include a "wall-less" mobile office/workspace design with a computer workstation, fold-down conference table, numerous storage compartments, cargo/tool tie-down racks, nearly six feet of interior height and an awning-style side panel that opens to create a standing outside workshop table. The NV2500 Concept has a 147.6-inch (12.3-foot)) wheelbase and measures a full 19.5 feet bumper-to-bumper. It stands 8 feet tall and is 6.6 feet wide. Inside, from the front of the passenger compartment to rear door, there is room to carry objects up to 10.5 feet long with the passenger seat moved out of the way.

2008 X-By-Wire Murano EA2

The Nissan Murano X-By-Wire is an exercise to use technology to lower weight. It uses steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, and shift-by-wire systems which allowed the removal of several pumps, fluids, hoses, and brake components as these were replaced with electronic parts. Additionally, it has been extended 11 centimeters and the the wheels were pushed out to the far corners, which could be safely done without sacrificing vehicle dynamics due to the lack of mechanical linkages, which allowed for 3rd row seating.

Released at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, the Infiniti Essence is a sport-luxury RWD hybrid coupe. Besides a 435hp VQ37 twin turbo engine, the Essence has a starter-generator which adds 158hp to the mix for a total of 593hp and dubbed "3D Drive". The starter-generator propels the Essence on electric power at low speeds, drawing on a lithium-ion battery pack stored in the trunk. The electric motors are smaller than conventional but the new design is twice as powerful. The Essence does not use a torque converter but has two seperate clutches for the gas and electric powered motors. The exterior of the vehicle is based on a design philosophy called "Dynamic Adeyaka" and utilizes razor sharp lines which contrast to the concave sweeps. The A-pillars utilize sideview cameras while external lighting is LED-based. The interior features an asymmetrical cabin which is divided into two areas separated by a large curving console between the seats that sweeps around to merge with the centre of the dashboard, in effect, creating a cocoon like environment. The interior is rounded out with leather, brushed aluminum and chronometer-style dials.

Released at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, the Qazana concept is "an intelligent, all-wheel drive crossover which is masculine, agile, lean, and designed for the tough city streets". The Qazana is sized for the urban environment but tough enough for the open road and offroad use. The concept is a 2-door coupe with additional rear hinged half-doors to enhance access. Its all-terrain potential is underlined by the venturi-style skid plate at the rear of the vehicle, Qazana's extended ground clearance and the soft rubber spats which edge the wheel arches and help to disguise the vehicle's long suspension travel. The interior is defined as masculine/mechanical with the shape of the centre console and armrest being inspired by the fuel tank and seat of a sports motocycle. Additionally, Qazana has 'floating' seats centrally mounted over a one-piece rubberised floor covering and a dashboard which is dominated by a centrally mounted screen which doubles as a navigation display and can deliver vital information relating to Nissan's next generation fully electronic ALL MODE four-wheel drive with torque vectoring system and other advanced technical processes.
